September 19: Rainier Beach Urban Farming

Whether you have been helping out at the Rainier Beach Urban Farm and Wetlands with our group over the last six months, or whether you’ve just been thinking about it … come and join us for one last hurrah! We’re finishing up the farm season with one more morning of volunteering in the fresh air, followed by a free delicious lunch made with produce from the farm. We’re a group of folks living with memory loss, plus friends and family, who happen to like getting our hands a little dirty. We join the regular Friday volunteer program hosted by Seattle Tilth. Group facilitators support volunteers in finding tasks that are a great fit. Active or seated volunteer options available.

Arrive between 9:30 – 10 a.m.; volunteer 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.; free lunch with fresh produce from 12 – 12:30 p.m.

Contact: For more information or to RSVP, contact Mari Becker, Seattle Parks and Recreation, (206) 684-4664, mari.becker@seattle.gov. This program developed in partnership with Elderwise, Southeast Seattle Senior Center, and people living with memory loss and care partners in Southeast Seattle and occurs on the third Friday of every month.
